چکیده

Cleft lip and palate is a congenital maxillofacial deformity. Unilateral complete cleft one of the most common clinical types. Nasal alveolar molding (PNAM) recognized strategy for treatment palate. However, current design PNAM devices mainly relies on subjective experience doctors. The purpose this paper to describe manufacture new computer-aided appliance, which can be applied presurgical nasoalveolar unilateral palate, eliminate individual differences, improve production efficiency. In paper, seven feature points healthy side affected are extracted by method Gaussian curvature ridge line extraction, rotation built-in model designed using these points, quickly generate eight stages PNAM. correction effects appliance in were compared with original maxillary (hand-made experience) from aspects fissure width symmetry. effectively symmetry patients (morphological similarity: t = 3.250, p ≤ 0.01; length 1.559, 0.150) reduce (t 8.330, < 0.01). This fully achieve therapeutic effect appliances prepared experienced doctors more efficient. based complex 3D surface point extraction provide basis evaluation model, efficiency problems caused burden

Effect of Presurgical Nasoalveolar Molding in Unilateral Cleft Lip and Palate Infants

Cleft lip and palate, the most common craniofacial anomalies, are severe congenital defects that have an incidence of 0.28 to 3.74 per 1000 live births. Although there has been great improvement in the field of cleft surgery, surgical approach cannot be the single solution to resolve the various problems encountered in patients with cleft lip and palate. The concept of presurgical infant orthop...

A modified presurgical orthopedic (nasoalveolar molding) device in the treatment of unilateral cleft lip and palate

Nasoalveolar molding (NAM) can be done effectively to reshape the nasal cartilage and mold the maxillary dentoalveolar arch before surgical cleft lip repair and primary rhinoplasty. Presurgical NAM helps as an adjunct procedure to enhance the esthetic and functional outcome of the surgical procedures. We have developed a modified NAM device to suit to the needs of the patients coming from dista...

Presurgical nasoalveolar molding: A technical note with case report

Cleft of the lip, alveolus and palate (CLAP), is a complex facial deformity, which requires multiple surgeries and bone grafting to correct the defect. Active or passive Pre surgical Orthopedic Molding reduces the deformity and thus reduces number of surgeries to achieve superior post surgical esthetic. Pre-surgical nasoalveolar molding (PNAM) is passive molding which align and approximate the ...

An Extraoral Nasoalveolar Molding Technique in Complete Unilateral Cleft Lip and Palate

SUMMARY Although nasoalveolar molding is commonly performed before cleft lip surgery, customized palatal plate availability is limited for patients far from a hospital. This case report describes a preformed extraoral nasoalveolar molding (PENAM) appliance and treatment approach for presurgical nasoalveolar molding in newborns with complete unilateral cleft lip and palate. A 12-day-old boy pres...

Nasal Outcomes of Presurgical Nasal Molding in Complete Unilateral Cleft Lip and Palate

Objective. Short-term nasal forms following primary lip repair were compared between presurgical nasal molding and control groups. Aim. To compare nasal symmetry between patients that had nasal molding and lip repair with those that had only lip repair. Design. Retrospective case-control study Patients. Complete unilateral CL+P patients had basilar and frontal photographs at two time points: (1...
